The firm Boulenger, born in 1804 in Choisy-le-Roi, prosperous and knows his peak in the late nineteenth century. The colorful ceramics is in fashion in the century. It is used to decorate the great monuments (the Opera Garnier, the Grand Palais ,...), department stores (the Samaritan) or to cover in reinforced concrete buildings (workshop Arfidson).
In 1900, the City of Paris appealed to the firm Boulenger to cover the walls of underground stations of the subway tile ceramic white.
