Chinese carmaker BYD marked its fourth consecutive appearance at the Automobile Show in Detroit with the presentation of its newest hybrid vehicle, the S6DM (DM Dual Mode).
The hybrid, running on gasoline and electricity, based on the S6, a midsize SUV was unveiled to the public for the first time at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2009. Note that it was itself inspired by the Lexus RX.
BYD, which is widely supported by philanthropist Warren Buffett, says that this vehicle is the first dual-mode electric SUV. Under the hood of the fireball, we find a gasoline engine with 2.0 liter four cylinder that is coupled with three electric motors.
